Important Tax Update from the Kentucky Department of Revenue

Important Tax Update 2025
The Kentucky Department of Revenue has announced a two-week pause in processing state tax returns from February 26 to March 14, 2025. During this period, the department will not process refunds or payments, and direct debit payments will not be debited from taxpayers’ bank accounts until after the pause is lifted.
Despite this pause, taxpayers can still file their returns electronically during this timeframe. However, refunds for electronically filed returns will not be processed until after March 14. The department advises taxpayers to ensure that all necessary forms and schedules are attached to their returns to avoid delays once processing resumes.
For assistance or to check the status of a refund, taxpayers can visit the Kentucky Department of Revenue’s “Where’s My Refund?” page. It’s important to note that the downtime will not impact the filing of federal returns for Kentucky residents.
Taxpayers are encouraged to plan accordingly and file their returns early to avoid potential delays.
“Plan ahead–file early to avoid processing delays.”
